NUS SGFIN Gallery Walk | MSc SGF Capstone Projects AY24/25

13 Aug 2025

⭐The best inspiration comes from those who lived through the journey before you ⭐

SGFIN's Gallery Walk on 13 August 2025 showcased inspiring capstone projects from the graduating students in the MSc in Sustainable and Green Finance (MSc SGF) program, where seniors’ learning journeys encouraged incoming students to tackle future sustainable finance challenges.

The event began with introductions from Prof Johan Sulaeman (Director) and Prof Zhang Weina (Deputy Director), followed by five data-driven presentations:

      • Guotai Li’s team analysed ESG fund performance across ASEAN, revealing poor alignment among rating providers and how past ratings influence fund managers’ portfolio weighting.
      • Bhairavee Wagh’s team examined port emissions and created a roadmap for decarbonisation.
      • Aditya Keshav and Junfeng YUE’s team explored ESG investment preferences of family offices and HNWIs in ASEAN, recommending targeted education and sustainability certification programmes.
      • Sevi Wening Perwitasari’s team benchmarked a shipping company’s disclosures and assessed physical and transition risks from existing shipping routes.
      • Vern Theng L.’s team warned of the potential misuse of sustainability-linked instruments if KPIs are not measurable or credible.

A panel session followed, where seniors Wagh, Aditya, Tse En Chia, Yash Chhabra and Michelle Loo reflected on lessons learned: keep an open mind when finding industry partners, align expectations early, narrow scopes to match team strengths, ask the right questions and seek feedback, manage peers’ underperformance with empathy, and trust SGFIN’s support throughout the journey.

The event closed with a free-and-easy mingling session, where attendees explored billboard summaries of other projects, exchanged experiences, and forged new connections in a lively, stimulating atmosphere—leaving students energized for their sustainable finance careers ahead.

The Gallery Walk was more than a showcase of research—it was a testament to the passion, resilience, and creativity of SGFIN’s graduating cohort. As they step into the next chapter of their careers, they carry forward not only the knowledge gained, but also the collaborative spirit and purpose-driven mindset that will shape the future of sustainable finance.
