Centre for Liveable Cities | Regenerative City Forum
14 Mar 2025
Sustainable and Green Finance Institute (SGFIN) Deputy Director Associate Professor Zhang Weina was invited by the Centre for Liveable Cities (CLC) to share her work on green building during the Regenerative City Forum workshop on Friday, 14 March. Taking the theme of “Enabling and Scaling Regenerative Design for Singapore”, CLC invited different subject matter experts to present their latest works on topics related to regenerative cities.
For that purpose, Prof Weina shared the approach to measuring the integrated Economic, Environmental, Social, and Governance (EESG) in the form of the Integrated Return on Investment (IROI). Such a framework took considerations of the interlinks between different designs, co-benefits, and externalities using the causality relationship. The IROI value can also be computed for different stakeholders depending on their preferences and interests. SGFIN’s IROI framework was well-received by the audience.
Together with other participants, SGFIN researchers Jefferson, Feimo Zhang and Fanny Xueqi Or also participated in the subsequent group discussion to design three hypothetical sites in a regenerative manner. Such discussions enabled many stakeholders from various backgrounds to provide insights into the complex facets of regenerative design.
