On 12 March 2026, the SGFIN Sustainability Summit brought together researchers, bankers, regulators, and policymakers in Singapore around one central question: how does climate risk translate into financial risk — and what do we do about it? Opened by Guest of Honour Ms Indranee Rajah, Second Minister for Finance, Second Minister for National Development and Minister, Prime Minister’s Office, the Summit set out a clear message — climate risk does not respect national borders, and when it travels, financial risk follows.

The day was anchored by three new pieces of SGFIN research: a climate risk stress test of the Indonesian banking system, a systematic analysis of the disclosure gap holding back corporate action on biodiversity, and a preview of a new sustainability valuation toolkit designed for SMEs. Each was paired with a practitioner panel featuring voices from UOB, Temasek, ERM, WWF, Schneider Electric, Uniseal Global and the Asian Development Bank Institute, connecting SGFIN's published work directly to real-world decision-making.

Keynotes by Professor Benjamin Horton and Professor Bambang Brodjonegoro challenged the room to confront uncomfortable truths — that the pace of climate change may outrun current financial models, and that sea-level rise is a budget and finance question, not just an environmental one. Across every session, a consistent theme emerged: advancing sustainable finance depends on better data, better tools, and closer collaboration between research and practice.
