World Bank Group: “Connecting Investors to a More Sustainable Future

Hosted by Sustainable and Green Finance Institute (SGFIN) at
National University of Singapore (NUS)

28 April 2023 (Friday)
3:00 to 4:00 p.m. (SGT)

The World Bank Group Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer will talk about harnessing the power of capital markets for sustainable development to meet The World Bank’s goals to end extreme poverty and promote shared prosperity in a sustainable way. After issuing the first green bond in 2008 and labelling all bonds issued as “sustainable development bonds” a few years later, the World Bank has a track record of innovations in the sustainable finance space.  The “sustainability” label, broader and more inclusive than simply green, reflects the institution’s global work in social and economic development and climate, but also the fact that all World Bank bonds meet the strictest standards of sustainability, supporting positive impact around the globe.
